Football season closes in Virginia as the Richmond 3-day tournament Holiday Bowl pits 9 and 11-year-old teams from neighboring and distant cities around the eastern seaboard. Brooklyn United, a 4-year member of Empire Youth Sports, qualifies for the trip after winning a local title competing against teams from Queens, Staten Island, Harlem and New Jersey, remaining undefeated. Coaches and parents are car pooling these 11-year-olds on the 6-hour journey to compete in the lauded Bowl invitation. Enthusiastically, the 9-year-olds, parents and friends sprang for a bus.
Dedicated Empire Youth president Ed Wilson, and Brooklyn United organizer Adam Howard continue to build, discipline and inspire our young athletes through committed coaches and parents that cheer and focus on their growth and maturity. Some players are in high schools excelling in the team sport and meeting their school curriculum. Brooklyn United connects with their progression, as coaches from that level have participated and offered their skills in the 8, 9, 10 and 11 year old age group contests.
We’re down there from December 1st through December 3rd at Dorey Park. Wish us luck, Brooklyn!
